SELECTED WORKS

ARTIFICIAL HELLS performance, installation

Klenová Gallery, Czech Republic, 2020

Part of symposium ART DIALOG, BETWEENSPACES

curator: Adéla Matasová

You new spark of an eternalfire, into which night were you born? We passed by in our ridiculousness and senselessness when we caught sight of you. Our eyes were blinded and our knowledge foll silent when we received your radiance.                                     C. G. Jung

The fate of man as participation and completion of natural processes. Efforts for Opus Magnum. Materialization of ideals, revelation of mysteries, divine principles. Alchemy of posthumanism – to technology, to nature. An endless cycle of temptation to understand  and

eternal failure. Faustian complex. The effort to penetrate into the very essence, Materia Prima, Great-Source. Nevertheless, this holistic concept can be conceived only in a state of dreaming, in a non-form of potentiality.

PACHITA performance

Pakosta Gallery, Litomyšl, Czech Republic, 2020

Part of collective studio exhibition Action/Presentation

Curator: Tomáš Ruller

The performance is a free adaptation of the famous Mexican healer Pachita. Within her “psychic” operations, she was possessed by the spirit and then performed interventions in this trance and created a strong atmosphere in which everyone present perceived that it was a real surgical procedure.

HOLOTROP performance

TERÉN – field for performing arts, CED, Czech Republic, 2020

sound master: Andrei Shulha

technical support: TERĒN, CED

text: C. G. Jung

holotropic >> towards integrity (dictionary of foreign words)

Performance experiment inspired by 5-MeO-DMT experience, contemporary Performance Art scene in Helsinki and work of C. G. Jung.

Reality research, sensory deprivation, thought manipulation, search for ‘prespace’ of collective unconsciousness, expressions out of form.

DEPTHS performance

Ferdinand Baumann Gallery, Prague, Czech Republic, 2020

Part of collective 24h performance

Concept: Darina Alster

The 24-hour performance format offers the opportunity – remaining in a state of different reality. This mythological level, independent of space-time, causality or the outside world, can then be explicitly expressed through the performer and confronted with the outside world. The innermost experiences are exposed in public space as well as in the homeless. Every breath is a warning that we are still alive and yet we are sinking somewhere further and further from man towards being.

Head Against the Wall performance, exhibition

Gallery Stěna, Liberec, Czech Republic, 2019

Cooperation: Barbora Kašubová

Music: Nick Cave: Push the Sky Away

White exhibition wall in interpretation students of Performance Art atelier FFA in Brno Barbora Kašubová and Hana Magdoňová will transform into the mental wall. Mental states and inner struggles will get a physical dimension. Representative function of the wall will be exchanged for action function. Instead of being beem for artistic work, the wall will became an artefact itself, which gets attention and brought energy. But what´s the point anyway to perform the wall? Stubbornness softens the absurdity of action. Vanity over vanity.

N/UM TCHA performance

Malinovského square, Brno, Czech Republic, 2019

Cooperation: Jakub Cír, Michael S. Blaško, Kristýna Kmentová, Jana Vondrů

Technical support: Jakub Wagner

Photo: Roman A. Muselík

Third of the projects from the Serie The Little Night Performances

N/um tcha is traditional healing ceremony of bushman tribe !Kung, which usually takes a place once a week and goes on all night long. The whole tribe meets, the women are sitting in the middle and clap, the men are walking around and stomp. Shaman/Medicine man is getting to deep trans because of the rhythm and healing the residences with his touch and voice. With the group of dancers and singers we created a free adaptation of this traditional bushman ritual and put it at the square in Brno. So we created a platform for common meeting of friends and even random passersby for a purpose of healing ritual. The project was inspired by exhibition Shaman´s rehearsal of Małgorzata Szandała (PL) in Gallery G99 in Brno.

KALI performance

Sokol gym in Karlin, Prague, Czech Republic, 2019

Part of Festival of Naked Forms, 2019, the topic of year: Pain

For 30 minutes I was hanging on to the rings in the gym. This physical deprivation made me so busy that I was not able of “normal” thinking.  I was forced to concentrate fully on my physical activity. At the same time, my body was in tense and twitch as it was looking for little relief. To be sure that even that even in my face would not appear any  “faked”, “untrue”, I concentrated my gaze on the void in front of me and tried to keep my tongue hanging freely from my mouth. The atmosphere of the event itself was further complemented by the site-specific of the gym itslelf.  The niche with the rings made almost impression of an altar, and audiences heard an audio record of aerobic training pushing to maximum excercie mixed with the Indian mantra, a prayer to Kali for calming the spirit. Throughout the performance, the assistant served to audience a shot of schnnaps in which was dropped a pin.  After they drunk the schnapps, she jabed the pn into their left heel – an acupuncture point of spiritual power (Achilles’ heel) – and tried to knock the viewer to the ground. Interesting was also the conclusion of the performance. After I dropped myself from the circles to the ground, I was so physically exhausted that I just respired, completely appalled and out of the “normal” state of mind. Feeling in the body could be compared to orgasm ecstasy bliss.  I was unable to move for a few minutes. It was interesting for me to have an experience during performance working withthe  tension: the constant effort to relax and keep myself in maximum strain at the same time.

CROSSING BORDERS transmedia symposium

Area of Kruhovský Mill, Laškov, Czech Republic, 2019

LINK TO ARTISTIC RESEARCH

The main aim of Trans-Media Symposium is to create the platform for artists collaboration through reduction/limitation which will give an opportunity for creative insight into the issues of individual media, leading to their unconventional development and deeper research and communication. Canvases, colours, musical instruments, dance floors, cameras, projectors, reflectors, sound equipment, and computers with all post-production applications will be exchanged for environment – nature landscapes and materials and own being – body, voice, conscious meditation. Every individual present has its place and time to develop and explore his own view of its relation to creation; searching for deeper intentions and as well the sources of expression. This intensive research will lead to common debates and further deepening of the theme, both within the individual concept and in the group creation. These conditions will help not only artists, but also the disciplines themselves to find their way back to themselves. Instead of developing individual media in a specific way, artists will strive to cross borders and fill the spaces. Finding common points, a common intention to respond to what arises in the art process between different materials. This universal process of creation and expression, free from the art media diversity, along with the presence of a natural element, approaches the form of ancient rituals; it is essentially a mutation of the term inter-media to the term trans-media (pre-media).

HELLO, EXCUSE ME! performance

Floating gallery (A)VOID, Prague, Czech Republic, 2019

Part of Prague Biennale Project: Magic Carpets 2019, topic of project: Public space

According the topic of the Magic Carpets project I opened the issue of public space as a platform for reality filtering. Everyone has the opportunity to move, present, exist within this common space. But what will penetrate through space from one person to another? How much we are able to target each other, to embrace our being. What do we want to see and what stays invisible to our eyes? Public space as a spectacle of society. The parable of a homeless / drunk who calls for attention is set amongst viewers as well as among randomly passing public. They have the opportunity to confront this individual directly, observe him impartially from a distance or simply ignore him. The viewers are physically disadvantaged in their view – the spotlights light in their faces and they wearing 3D glasses.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE performance

Fair trade Palace, National Gallery, Prague, Czech republic, 2019

Text: Kateřina Koutníková

Inside/outside was part of collective performance Theatrum Mundi 3.0. Separatization of inner and outer world. Performer’s unposibility to communicate with vicinity, react on outer impulses.  Neither his inner feelings and experiences don’t coming out on surface. Each movement is extended to exhaustion and falling. This spasmodic expression is the only thing what express inner statement of performer.

TO DO NOT EXIST FOR 1 HOUR performance

Prague, Czech Republic, 2019
Náměstí Míru

Second of the projects from the Serie The Little Night Performances.

In the night from 30/3 to 31/3 we missed one hour because of change from winter time to summer time. As the one hour was not exist, I decided also to do not be for one hour. Full surrender, what ever will happen.

THE HOLLOW performance

Brno, Czech Republic, 2019
dance cooperation: Michael S. Blaško

First of the projects from the Serie The Little Night Performances.

Artistic expression through dance and movement in the scenography of depressing city-landscapes might to evoke the inner states of mind – depression or anxiety, which are so common in city life style. It is not sure if the reinforced concrete structure is stabilizited or not. If the man falls deep in the hollow in the ground or is be able to get out of there. Uncovered bodies tells about fragility and the  make up about inability to communicate with the outer world.

THE BIRTH OF LA GORDA, exhibition

Brno, Czech Republic, 2019

Semestral project at FAVU´s Aula

projection: Woody and Steina Vasulka: Noisefields 1974

“The modern man needs a ritual. Through the ritual, we are working on the most exalted thing in ourselves. It is precisely because we lack the rituals so much that we are drowning in mediocrity … … I will express myself exclusively through the unconscious. I let it flow through the stage as freely as dreams unfold. I will ignore the intellect of the audience. I will not make the definitions of symbols available, I will simply use them in all their infinite complexity and I will let everyone interpret them on their own.” Alejandro Jodorowsky

For my semestral project I created performance in the platform of ritual. Spiritual transformative ceremony. I used general shamanistic methods and transform them to components of the 21st century, West world. Those component are closer to communicate with audience than to try the ancient native methods. But the effect should work the same. Remove the usual, rational way of thinking and perceive the experience instead.

NOTHING COVERED BY SKIN performance, exhibition

Suteren Gallery, Brno, Czech republic

opening 06/12/18

colective exhibition with artistic group Gravidity: Lucie Jestřabíková, Zuzana Štefková, Hana Magdoňová, Michael Franče, Michaela Čížková

Underground – Suteren – Sub terrein in French – under the surface – inspires to open Pandora´s Box to our Sub consciousness. Emotions and feelings covered deep inside of us is not easy pronounce by words. They leak through the ragged cellar space, from its representative parts to darkest corners. Explicitly but not descriptively we try to bring it to the surface. These themes with transform to the intersection body-clothes-environment. Against the usual principle the gradual concealment of our subconscious  by the individual layers are used as an option explicit expression. Despite human body, sculpture, photography, performance, clothes, leather, coats up after the particular environment of the cellar space. Just like make up, we can cover up our true identity, but it can be also a way of expression of our inner world.

HOW TO EXPLAIN THE WORLD TO A DEAD HARE performance

Prague Rooms exhibition, Prague, Czech Republic

performance: 14-16/11/18

“Zajíček v své jamce sedí sám, sedí sám. Ubožáčku, co je ti, že nemůžeš skákati? Chutě skoč, chutě skoč, a vyskoč!”

Performance “How to Explain the World to a Dead Hare” was created as part of the 2018 Prague Rooms exhibition (Exhibition of Czech Art Universities). Instead of presenting our work, cabinet of Performance decided to fill the time-space with the presence of performers themselves. Every concrete action transforms the space. Efforts to communicate with the living and the not-living. The inspiration for us is Joseph Beuys’ work.

My performance was an interpretation of his performance “How to Explain the Image to a Dead Hare”.Thirty-hour meditation during three days took place together with the audience. Nonverbally, just in the meditative state of mind i tried to communicate with audience (1 or 2 person) and explain questions which Beuys put in his work: Who is a Dead Hare? Why is a Hare dead? How to reanimate him?

RE-PRESENTATION performance

Prague City Gallery, Czech Republic, 2018

The RE-PRESENTATION was held as part of a collective performance within the Tomáš Ruller’s Flash of Sustainable exhibition. It deals with the issue of our identity. Are we really ourselves? Or is that just a picture curved by the image of ourselves? What makes us move? Symbolic casting of the body and its shadow.

BAUBO performance

GASK Gallery, Kutná hora, Czech Republic, 2018

The performance Baubo happened in September 2018 as part of the collective performance Theatrum Mundi at the GASK Gallery in Kutná Hora. It is an interpretation of the Greek Goddess of the belly of Baubo. She does not have a head, her eyes are instead of her breasts and her mouth instead of a sheath. She communicates with other people or gods through her body, which use to be coarse and dirty. Even during this performance, the communication worked through the body. It was simple, provocative and challenging dialog. After that was interesting to confront the audience and the performer face to face.
